Dance of the Lilies
The grand ball is pleased to announce the arrival of the lilies. These tall stemmed debutantes are grouped together in a prominent location and are displaying their brilliant stamens. Since they are massed together, dressed in their bright colors, they are quite a sight. The increasing heat of the day shows their color but the debs are also producing some intoxicating fragrances. The recent rains will keep them fresh looking for quite a while, I hope.
I hope to join the Six On Saturday group on Saturday morning. Six recent photos on a blog is all it takes. Gardeners from around the globe participate. Our host is Jim Stephens. Here is the link if you wish to see the photos. https://gardenruminations.co.uk
Here is a guide if you should wish to participate https://gardenruminations.co.uk/2022/11/05/six-on-saturday-a-participant-guide/.

The exotic beauty on the left is the Tiger Lily (Tigrinya splendent). The black spotted petals do suggest a tiger. At 4 feet tall, this plant does tower over the garden. So far, it has given several years of display without evidence of disease or predators.
The Henry’s Lily (Lilium Henry) is also a vigorous bloomer with its bright colors and vivid orange stamens. As you can see, I keep it supported against a green coated wire fence.

The White lily is next. I call it the White Lily because I have lost track of the name. Despite the common name, it is uncommonly majestic.
The Crinum lily is gorgeous. I have three. This is the second year and I wasn’t expecting any blooms for several years. The leaves are large and sword like so I expect there will be a large clump in time.

The container on the left has coleus ‘Chocolate Mint’ as a filler and the later appearing Caladium ‘Summer Breeze’ as a thriller.
The woodland spider lily (Hymenocallis occidentalis) is new to my garden. The bulbs were gifted by a friend. This plant is native to the Southeast.

A bonus in this post is the Buddleia ‘Honeycomb’ with its namesake appearance and bright orange eyes.
Happy Gardening.

Another great selection of plants that I love this week, especially the featured Caladium with its magnificent foliage. I also really liked the Tiger Lily.
A great exotic looking selection today. That Spider Lily is a beauty.
